Foundation Facts
Our first parents – Adam and Eve – were created with sinless natures, but with the free will to choose between right and wrong.
When tempted by Satan to disobey God’s command, they believed Satan’s lie instead of God’s Word, and ate of the forbidden fruit.
By this act of disobedience they sinned.
When they sinned, of course, they no longer had a sinless nature, but a sinful nature.
By not obeying God, they permitted sin and death to come in to the realm of humanity (Rom. 5:12-21), and their godlikeness and fellowship with God were destroyed. They became afraid of God and tried to hide themselves.

God’s Plan for Saving Sinners
(1) God sent His Son into the world that He might take the sinner’s place. When Jesus died on the cross as God’s Lamb, He took the punishment that belonged to
the sinner.
(John 3:16,17.)
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.”
(John 1:29.)
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
(2) When we repent and acknowledge ourselves to be
sinners, and take Jesus Christ as our Saviour, God gives us a new nature. We are born from above.
(John 3:3,7.)
“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”
(3) By our acceptance of Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, we receive eternal life.
(John 1:12.)
“As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
(John 3:36.)
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

JOHN
CHAPTER 1 – THE DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST
Vv. 1-18 The Incarnate Word
_____
The Word and God
IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
The Word and World
3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
The Word and Men
4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
The Word and Sin
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
A Man Sent from God, whose Name was John
6¶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

TEACHING
FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINES
IN
THE GOSPEL OF JOHN
The Five Great Fundamental Doctrines
as set forth in the statement of faith of the Christian
Fundamentals Association, are
The Infallible Word of God
The Deity of Jesus Christ
His Blood Atonement for Sin
His Physical, Bodily Resurrection
His Personal, Bodily Return
The church was founded upon these doctrines, and they are held by all true evangelical preachers, teachers and believers.
Our country was founded upon the Bible, of which this Gospel of John is a portion.
INSPIRATION OF THE WORD OF GOD
Truth Came by Jesus Christ, John 1:17
“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

THE PERSONALITY OF SATAN
Jesus calls him the prince of this world, 12:31; 14:30
“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
“Hereafter I will not talk much with you; for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me.”
Jesus calls him the devil, 13:2
“And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him”
Jesus assures us of judgment upon him, 16:11
“Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
THE ETERNAL PUNISHMENT
OF UNBELIEVERS
Those who refuse to believe on Jesus die in their sins, 8:24-25
“I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins; for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.
“Then said they unto Him, ‘Who art thou?’ And Jesus saith unto them, ‘Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.’ ”
The wrath of God abideth on the unbeliever, 3:36
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
The two resurrections – One of life, the other of
damnation, 5:28-29
“Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice,
“And shall come forth; they that have done good unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”
